Important information regarding chargebacks and disputes
First some definitions:
What is chargeback fraud?
Chargeback fraud, often called "friendly fraud," is a form of first-party abuse where a customer makes a legitimate purchase with their credit card and subsequently files a false dispute with their bank to get a refund while keeping the product or service. It is a form of fraud because it involves intentional deception.
Chargeback fraud rates have increased exponentially in recent years. We assume this is due to the failing economy. With increased poverty comes increased crime and theft. Chargeback fraud is theft, those who practice this are stealing from an honest small family business, and we here at Fix the World Morocco take this very seriously. This is the main reason why we use Paypal as our merchant account because Paypal has sellers protection. The other merchant account services out there do not provide this, and essentially allow thieves to steal from small businesses.
What happens when you dispute with your bank or with Paypal:
When you put in a dispute on Paypal or with your bank it automatically becomes a chargeback and gets put into the hands of a third party (in this case Paypal). A case is created and the case then has 90 days until it resolves.
We the seller need to provide proof of delivery, which we can and we will. We also need to provide our refund policy, which we can and we will. In order for you to legally get your money back under a dispute or a chargeback YOU the consumer need to provide proof that you shipped the merchandise back to the seller. If you do not provide this proof, the chargeback case will be closed in our favor and you will not receive your refund. In cases where your bank card offers you automatic refunds until the case is settled, you may receive a temporary refund, but this will be reversed once the case is closed and decided in our favor, again, this will take up to 90 days until this occurs.
The above is PayPal's procedure for sellers protection. It is in place to prevent small businesses from being robbed by chargeback fraud.
This applies to all the different reasons that may be listed in your chargeback dispute. Including, "unauthorized transaction", "item not as described", "item not received" etc.
As long as we can provide proof of delivery, our return policy must be followed and our merchandise needs to be returned to us.
We should also mention that small businesses like our get charged fees for disputes and chargebacks, even if they are fraud. So again we ask you kindly. If you ever have an issue or want to return a product, please follow our return policy and we are happy to refund you.
